Consumer confidence sinks to 81.9, lowest since 2014, on inflation and jobs fears

Americans’ mood deteriorated sharply in September as more households flagged worsening finances and a shakier labor market, according to the Conference Board. Job openings also slipped, while inflation expectations climbed.
